Code of Conduct

The Aftershock Review is committed to creating a respectful, inclusive, and professional environment across all our spaces — editorial, digital, live, and public-facing.

This Code of Conduct applies to contributors, editors, freelancers, collaborators, audiences, and anyone engaging with Aftershock activity.

Expected Behaviour

We expect everyone to:

  • Treat others with dignity, care, and respect

  • Communicate honestly and professionally

  • Respect boundaries, consent, and confidentiality

  • Engage in disagreement or critique without personal attack

  • Take responsibility for the impact of their words and actions

We recognise that vulnerability and lived experience are central to much of the work we publish, and we expect that to be met with care.

Unacceptable Behaviour

We do not tolerate:

  • Harassment, bullying, or intimidation

  • Discrimination on the basis of identity, background, or disability

  • Abusive, threatening, or coercive behaviour

  • Hate speech or demeaning language

  • Sexual harassment or unwanted sexual attention

  • Retaliation against anyone raising a concern

This applies across editorial correspondence, events, workshops, social media, and private communication connected to Aftershock.

Editorial Relationships

Editors will offer feedback that is constructive, proportionate, and respectful.

Contributors are expected to engage professionally, even where decisions are disappointing.

All reports will be taken seriously and handled sensitively. We reserve the right to take appropriate action, including mediation, removal from projects or events, or termination of professional relationships.
