MAX WALLIS
Founder & Editor-in-Chief
Max Wallis is a poet, author, editor, and survivor whose work explores queerness, class, mental health, and recovery. His books include Modern Love (Polari Prize-shortlisted) and Well Done, You Didn’t Die (Verve, 2025). After being sectioned in 2024 and diagnosed with complex PTSD and severe ADHD, Max rebuilt his creative life from his childhood home in Chorley — and from that urgency, The Aftershock Review was born. Max brings a decade of editorial experience to the magazine, alongside work for The Guardian, The Times, The Telegraph, Vogue, The Spectator, and others. He leads Aftershock’s editorial vision, design, partnerships, and even packs every issue from home in Chorley.
